I’ve been working for a good part of 18 years in the design and shelter publishing industry. I’m a dinosaur, but an informative dinosaur, though! Here’s a sampling of the projects I’ve done:
MANILA FAME TOUCHPOINT
Consulting content editor for Manila FAME Touchpoint, under CITEM. Curated, produced, and edited the content for the Touchpoint component of Manila FAME site, which features Filipino exhibitors and manufacturers in the furniture, accessories, and fashion industries. To take a peek at all the articles on Pinoy design, visit Touchpoint here.
I was the former editor-in-chief of the biggest home and design title in the country for 15 years. I still know the website (and its erstwhile magazine) like the back of my hand, but other folks run it now. If you want to get a dose of practical design tips, click here.
For the past year, I’ve enjoyed running a bi-weekly design and urban planning column for the local lifestyle site. I’ve tackled issues on the revival of Escolta, designer home tours, and urban redevelopment of Ortigas and other areas. To view my last article on Malate, read it here.
If there was a new art exhibit, random heritage home, or obscure design launch somewhere, I was on it for both news sites. GMA let me do the fun arts and culture beat, while ANCX was patient enough to wait for my long-form design articles like this one.
Provided content for the blog component of the SM Home web and e-tail site. Styling and shooting products with old friends were the best parts of this marketing campaign.
Contributed an essay on Philippine interior design directions in 2019, along with other Filipino authors, as part of an NCCA project for Domus, a bilingual design and architecture magazine in Milan, Italy.
PAGE ONE PUBLISHING
This was pre-digital era of churning out design monographs and coffee table books, and Page One Publishing was a leader in Asia. I styled and art-directed photo shoots as well as wrote about Philippine homes for “Urban Pads,” “Groovy Homes” books, and Space Magazine, Singapore.
I didn’t have to fly out, but writing about arts, culture, and Filipino heritage for Mabuhay (Philippine Airlines’ in-flight magazine) was quite exciting.
